Coín is a town with a lot of industry and a forward looking attitude, however, to it´s further credit is the fact that it has remained reasonably untouched by the influence of the coast and it retains it´s Spanish character and charm. The nightlife is good with something to suit all tastes, from traditional tapas bars and bodegas and good restaurants to modern air conditioned wine bars to night clubs and disco´s. It is also lucky enough to have two ferias each year, the first being in May, the second in August, they are enjoyed to the full. Don't be ill in Coin´s hospital at this time as the feria ground is right next to it. The music goes on until 4 or 5 am, sometimes later and the spectacularly large and noisy opening and closing firework displays are launched from and occur in the hospital grounds! The downside of Coín? It was unfortunate to be chosen by the BBC as the setting for its spectacularly unsuccessful & embarrasing soap opera, Eldorado.
